We went down to the UofL homeschool preview day yesterday. Other than getting some useful info about scholarships, we also got a campus tour. Needless to say, a campus tour in rainy, fifty degree weather on a campus that "doesn't drain well" (as the admissions lady said) was miserable, but I like the campus. It's close to home, and also quite familiar to me because of my sister's piano camp there during the summer. I imagine it's probably very pretty when it's not cold and wet. Lots of trees and more squirrels than you want to count.
The campus can't speak for the school, though, and I don't know how good their fine arts program is. I have three or four years yet before I go to college, but I want to decide where as soon as I can so I can apply for scholarships. Of course my state wouldn't have any incredibly prestigious art schools, although there are a few that are well heard of if you live here. But I have to decide if "incredibly prestigious" is what I really want. It would be amazing to go somewhere like RISD or the Maryland Institute of Art, but at the same time they're so far away it's hard to imagine going there.
We plan on attending the open house day on Nov. 1st, to get a look at the art school. Wish me luck!
